While I was convalescing over the weekend, Susan made me some tomato soup. I was reclining on the couch and promptly spilled HOT soup on my chest (my robe was open slightly). Is it a bad thing when you can peel skin away?

Depends on the local culture...

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

I took another look at the space yesterday, and it gets a lot more light than I realized. Still nothing direct, but it's all of 10 feet from a very light colored wall with a big ol' sliding glass door that gets direct sunlight for about 4 hours a day. I'm thinking that "partial shade" and "indirect sun" plants stand a good chance there.

BBQ chicken is definitely a sandwich that improves upon contact with a microwave.

Had an excellent second round of interviews today, applied for a replacement social security card, got some bread and coffee, and took four pants to the tailor.

Ooh, which reminds me... I've never used a tailor before. Do they get tipped?

Generally no, I suspect. Is this a tailor with their own establishment or one through a department store? My tailor has her own dry cleaning/alterations shop and I figure she charges whatever her fee is and can charge more if she wants more.

Yeah, I looked it up online, and that's what they suggest if it's a owner/tailor type place. So, that's what I'm going to do.

I was really stoked when I found perfectly fitting pants at a TREMENDOUS discount... except they were too long. I think they're going to look fantastic hemmed up!

Wow.

I'd delete them, but figure that a sextuple-post was kind of cool.

Holy crap.

So my boss just called me into her office and we're downsizing -- and two of my co-workers will be let go shortly. I will be staying on for the indefinite future -- meaning my responsibilities and workload will go up (and hopefully I will get a raise next month, as they'll still be paying MUCH less per year overall). Of course, I asked her if I should be looking for a job soon too, and she assured me that with the downsize I can work here for sure through next year and beyond.

But... holy crap. While I feel like I dodged a bullet, and I'm glad my boss is so confident in me (hey, what's not to like?), I feel awful for my co-workers, whom I genuinely get along with. It's really rare to have an office with NO internal drama. I'm not sure what to say. I feel happy about not having to look, and guilty for being here all at the same time. Obviously, I can't say anything about this to them, and they haven't been told yet.

Hooboy. I'm just in a daze right now.
