Why am I more inclined to check out the Homo Horror Picture Show?

I'm working Friday but the Homo show on Saturday might be fun. Definitely keep me updated on the Dykey show!

Dykey Horror is December 19

Of the Friday the 13th and the next day Homo show, which would you recommend I'd enjoy more?

SzczerbiakManiac 11-11-2009 01:13 PM

It depends on what you want to see.

Friday the 13th will be a pretty standard performance. Strong choreography, screen accuracy... a "straight" version of RHPS with a sprinkling of triskadekaphobic references.

For Homo Horror, all bets are off. You're going to be seeing guys play roles they don't normally play. Costumes will probably be ill-fitting, choreography may not be up to our normal standard, but it's all played for laughs. We have a couple hot guys, but I wouldn't recommend coming to Homo Horror expecting guy candy.

I dunno, does that help?

It helps a bit. I've seen PLENTY (too many, in fact) regular Rocky shows with brilliant costumes, perfect choreography, screen-matching impeccability.

What I haven't seen enough of are theme shows. Back in The Day (and I'm talking late 70's), we tried our hand at a number of theme shows and they were so much fun. None of the casts I've worked with in L.A. ever attempted that* ... and perhaps that was because they were still working on getting their brilliant costumes, perfect choreography and screen-matching impeccability up to the snuff the New York casts achieved years earlier. (Though I will say that a certain L.A cast was years ahead of New York in the set-reproduction department).

So I'm thinking a fun theme show might be more my cup of tea.

* caveat - I stopped doing Rocky in the mid-80's, so I'm not saying L.A. casts never attempted theme shows.

See you Saturday :)

History In The Making....

This could be the first time ever that Ghoulish Delight, NirvanaMan, Borneio, Capn' Jack, Chris, Kevy, Flippyshark, Alex, Strangler Lewis, Mousepod, Melonballer, CoasterMatt & Tref have all gone out to the theatre together dressed as women....

(Apologies to any in the group that I may have forgotten)
