WOW!! Thanks so much for all the warm wishes. I just got back from a weekend trip and this really is putting a smile on my face.
My birthday was both fun and bittersweet. I went off to Las Vegas for the weekend for a family gathering to celebrate the life of my father who recently passed away. But we had fun, shared photographs and stories of him and had a blast in the city where he loved to play poker and blackjack.
We stayed mid-Strip at Bally's and I was really pleased with the rooms and the restaurants. Didn't make a final profit on the slots by the end of the weekend but at least I made a lot of comp points which helped with the room charges.
I haven't had any cake yet but we had some fabulous meals: First, went to the buffet at Paris Las Vegas on Saturday night. Oh so yummy and all the flan and blueberry crepes you could eat! Heaven. :) Then last night, we ate at Al Dente at Bally's. I had the best spaghetti carbonara ever accompanied by a glass or two of Fetzer Sundial chardonney. I was so stuffed, my sister and I stayed up playing slots until 4:00 in the morning because our heads were spinning. We both got totally addicted to two new penny slots: Mystic Mermaid and Enchanted Unicorn. At times, I won up to 80 dollars on a 40-cent bet. Of course, I lost too. ;)
The doggies were especially loving today as I just finished picking them up at the kennel. They are now contentedly snoozing at my feet as the kennel owner explained that they were completely and happily worn out from barking at all the other dogs for three days straight. I don't know how anyone can work at a dog kennel -- it's total bedlam.
Thanks again, everybody. I've really enjoyed parking here at the LoT. May we all live to celebrate another year of birthdays, and a chance to finally use my brand new AARP discount card!! Oy. ;)
