I like Seinfeld.

I like Seinfeld, too. But in actuality, I have only seen maybe half of all of the episodes...

While I'm not bothered by CP not liking Seinfeld (I've pretty mixed feelings myself, some few episodes are classic but most have not aged well at all and I missed most of the initial run).

It is surprising to me, though, that she has made it through the last decade of Festivus silliness every year without finding out what it was.

I'm not a Seinfeld fan either. I don't despise it, just not a fan. I just like poking fun at pregnant ladies. ;)

Wait a minute, isn't Seinfeld like, required viewing for Jews? Like not making out during Schindler's List?

I think it's one of those things that lives on the edge of my radar. I've probably googled it every year.

If I ever suspect that I'm not a weirdo, I remind myself that I do not enjoy the majority of widely popular sitcoms with laugh tracks and/or studio audiences. Seinfeld, Friends, Home Improvement, Everybody Loves Raymond, the Drew Carey Show, Frasier...I've given each of these maybe 10 minutes of my life and was horrified to discover what the vast majority of my peers enjoy. Even my brothers love this stuff.

The major exception is That 70's Show, which I really did love for a while. I did quit on it eventually, I think after the 2nd season, when it got just a little too....I guess the word is "silly".

I am so damn glad that Arrested Development came along, and the wave of no-audience, seemingly higher-intelligence sitcoms (though I hate to use the "s" word in relation to them, to me they are in a different class) that came after it - The Office, 30 Rock. I really can't quantify how these shows are different from the other shows, mostly because I haven't studied it too closely, but to me the difference is apparent.

Oh, it's from Seinfeld. Ok.

Yes, the general population first learned about Festivus via Seinfeld, but according to Wikipedia, it originated in 1966. (Read the article, I'm not joking.)
