ok, the forward facing phone is good for sexting, but I still contend most pictures are taken of things other than yourself, in which case you want the screen facing you and the lens facing away. I'm beginning to re-think the whole thing might be a hoax.

There is still a higher quality camera for photos on the back. The camera on the front is a lower quality camera (from a still-image standpoint) optimized specifically for video-chat (e.g. skype) use.

Plus, in my limited roaming around Facebook it is my estimation that 72.367% of all cell phone photos posted on the net are pictures taken of the person holding the phone, arm outstretched and really hoping the framing is correct.

I believe the only reason young people go to parties is so they can take this type of group photo.

What's really weird is the realization that people 10-15 years younger than me are better at it than I am.

a lower quality camera? Um, is there such a thing? The iPhone camera is the most craptacular digital camera in the known universe.

Ah, hence the "upgrade" to an even MORE craptacular camera! Genius!!!

No, what's really weird is the realization that people 10-15 years younger than me are adults.

Like I said, a lower quality camera from a still image standpoint. It's not there for the purpose of still images. It's there for the purpose of video chat (said for the 3rd time). Considering the amount of compression necessary to send video at a serviceable frame-rate across the mobile internet, a high quality camera would be a waste of money. A simple cheap-o tiny camera can produce good-enough-video-quality, but it will not produce a particularly good still image.

That too. But I recently had the realization that I frame my photos very differently than people of that age, and subsequently, my photos look way worse than theirs do when viewed at avatar and thumbnail sizes.

Police have seized computers and servers belonging to an editor of Gizmodo in an investigation that appears to stem from the gadget blog's purchase of a lost Apple iPhone prototype.

Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's office obtained a warrant on Friday and searched Jason Chen's Fremont, Calif., home later that evening, Gizmodo acknowledged on Monday.
