Because Cinderella's Castle is only 189 feet tall.

Though it may seem taller

And before you ask...

The Tower of Terror is 199' feet tall with 200' being the cut off point for a blinky light.

And the Empire State Building is 1,250 ft tall (1,454 ft with the antennas).

But it has a big ole honkin' red airplane beacon on it.

And it would make one hell of a Tower of Terror ride.

Hogwart's Castle is a great piece of forced perspective as well.

It sits atop the massive show building that houses Forbidden Journey.

Is the height requirement measured from sea level?

Logic would dictate that it measured from the ground that the object is on. Otherwise, a one story house on a plot of land that is 200 feet above sea level would need a beacon.

Very Spockian syntax there, bud.

You frickin' moron: that's completely asinine. Anyone with a brain could easily figure out that of course it can't be as measured from sea level because a vast majority of the ground that structures are built on is at least 200 feet above sea level. Next, you'll want the stupid lights on any dog running around LA.

Was that better? :D

At Britton Hill, FL (Elev 345ft) They'd have to dig down 145ft to mount the lights.
