I think I agree with Ralphie on this one. Every Repub has a consituency that is filled with people who understand this stem cell debate a whole hell of a lot better than Bush, and may also have loved ones who would benefit from the research. The really jaded and skeptical part of me thinks that this is a done deal- Bush is only pretending to be against it to placate the hardliners. I'll bet he and the others have already taken out stock in the research facilities that show the most promise.

When Nickolas was born (1996) I tried to donate the cells from his cord blood, but the hospital refused.


Edited to add: I think of myself as a leftward leaning Republican (if there is such a thing).
