Wow. I didn't think air travel could get worse for me. As if fear of plummeting to my death whilst ****ting myself and screaming for people to help me even though they too are plummeting to their deaths wasn't bad enough, I now have to fear being annoyed to death whilst trapped in a tin can, all exits pointing to thin air.
Then again, people can use them on the train, and most people don't. Maybe at the very beginning or very end, but I've only once sat down next to someone who yammered on their phone for an hour.
I just stared at him as coyly as I could by stealing multiple sidways glances and thought, You must be terrified of being alone if you can't spend an hour quietly on the train thinking or reading or writing or something. It kind of made me sad.
Also, how come one is always seated next to a cell phone user who NEVER shuts up enough to let the person they are speaking to get a word in? How come I'm never seated next to the OTHER person who isn't being allowed to talk. I'd much rather be seated next to the ignored cell phone user.
