I seem to remember at least one season where someone twisted their and the next thing you know they had a pretty professional looking ankle wrap.
I think they try to make it appear as if they don't give them medical help, but one would suppose they're smarter than that and do behind the scenes in the more extreme cases (perhaps just enough to stabalize them without really completely healing them). |
There are medics that can come and give an opinion on whether a person should be pulled from the game. However, I believe if anyone is given medical assistance from show staff they must forfeit the game. That's not to say that there isn't someone on their team that could do a good job, as Margaret has done.

Anyone know if they are reshowing this episode? Damn VCR didn't auto-record last night and we missed it. I'm soooo bummed. :(

Well, finally saw an episode last night. :)
I was happy with the vote. Morgan sure got the rug pulled out from under her though. I will never understand how people think they can sit and do nothing at camp and get away with it. Lydia may not be the greatest asset to her tribe but she seems to have a great attitude and work ethic. I was happy that she didn't get voted off. I wonder what is up with the guy that can't seem to catch his breath. He seemed to do fine in the challenge but is barely surviving in camp. Strange. Also funny to see the NFL guy get outed by the other team. I'm not sure that continuing to deny it was such a great idea though. That's gonna come back to bite him in the ass at some point. |
MBC - the guy having trouble catching his breath was injured in the first episode. During a hike, a branch with these nasty looking thorns fell off and hit him in the shoulder pretty hard. Margaret (the nurse) pulled three of four thorns out of him.
My suspicion is that there is some sort of virus or something that is affecting him. He would have absolutely no immunity to anything like that, being in a completely different environment than he has ever been in before. (of course, rereading this thread, I see that theory was already put forth) I was amazed at the red head guy that was so weak he couldn't pull himself up a ladder in the reward challange. If he continues to perform that poorly, he'll be gone soon. Considering how close the finish was, it was easily his fault they lost. And I never thought Morgan was much to look at anyway, though I understand some did. |

You know what I'd like to see on Survivor? (not that this is has anything to do with the thread) Survivor "twins" edition. 8 or 9 sets of twins, separated from each other on the teams. It would add an interesting new dimension to the game in terms of having a HUGE interest as to who is voted off the other team. I think it could change the game dramatically.

I think the twins idea is a very cool concept! |
I can't believe they didn't vote Gary off! He totally lost that challenge for them! If it's all about the challenges, then he should have been gone last night...of course he did provide that lovely meal of ants!
I think Blake is faking to a degree. He had NO problem doing both challenges AND going twice on the first challenge. And didn't appear to be having much problem after either of them. And Steph made it thru the first tribal...Go Steph! Twin Survivor - Good idea! |
No, they don't know his Gary's last name. In the first episode, he said if anyone recognized him, he'd tell him they were mistaken and his name was actually Gary Holcomb or something similar to that.
But what he's done now is idiotic. They WILL eventually find out he's lying. With her being a sportscaster, there's no way he will be able to deny it through the whole thing (you KNOW they did that bit of casting on purpose). What he should have done was say, "Well, yeah, I WAS an NFL quarterback, but that was 15 years ago and not who I am now." He retired before there was big money for NFL players, so it's not that big of a deal. If he did that, he was simply being modest for the first few days. But now, by flatly denying the direct question, he's become a liar. Bad news for him. Danni's abs scare the hell out of me. Oh, and I wanted Lydia to go. She pissed me off in the first episode. In the initial insane hike, at the point where Yaxua was right behind Nakum when they hit that road, Lydia was one of the women lagging way back. But when, already having lost, they reached the destination, she made sure to power her way to the front and be the first into the ruins. Lady, if you had that much in the tank, why were you lagging when it counted? |
