You too can have a life beyond Disneyland. ;) I think that is why Chris and I - and others - keep announcing things to do on LoT.

I wasn't really trying to suggest that, although the reassurance is noted and appreciated. :) Rather, I was just speaking more to the fact that with DL, we've been able to see people, not only when there is a special day that is planned in advance for, but also when it is least expected. There is something very cool about showing up at the park on a whim and discovering that 5 or 6 people had the same whim. It seems like there will be a little less of that, perhaps, and that is what I will miss. Hope that makes sense. :)

Before I met all you guys, I had been Disneyland passless for 2 years - - and that really helped to fuel the fun of my rediscovery of the place with you all. I still enjoy the Park, but prefer the once-in-awhile to the ever-other-weekend.

I, too, think we constantly need new to fuel our fun. The Cemetery screenings are a perfect example. I predict loving them next year, and finding them lacking something the year after.

Growing up Jewish, I never had Christmas. Out on my own at 18, Christmas became a mania that lasted lavishly for a couple of decades. Yet even that most joyous of holiday seasons has become somewhat mundane to me. But, oh I am still fond of Christmas. And still fond of Disneyland. I don't intend to throw out all beloved traditions with the new stuff I hope to see added to all our lives.


I'm still fond of Gay Day and Goth Day and, as Zapp and I discussed yesterday, instead of abandoning them to lacklusterhood - - we are going to inject new life into them next year. Some of you may recall sitting around the Heathstone hearth on Saturday, going thru the Gay Day program and discovering how same-old the offerings were. And though they are never going to put me in charge of Gay Day or Goth Day to shake things up, I intend to enlist you all in coming up with a handful of new and fun events for both G Days at Disneyland, and hopefully promote them on the internet as much as we can.


Maybe we can find something new to gin up Christmas, something kewl and interesting to perk up Halloween, and by all means keep eyes and ears out for the totally new stuff that jazzes up the spice of life on a continuing basis.

Huh? What? A life without Disneyland? LALALALALA, I can't hear you.

Seriously though, we do keep an eye out for that stuff and hopefully we can start joining in more. It sure would help if my better half had a work schedule that was more in sync with the rest of the world though. Working evenings on Friday and Saturdays presents some interesting social challenges. :)

Hmmm this thread seems to be more of a downer than I intended. I'm not really looking to let my AP lapse or anything like that, rather I'm expressing my current malaise and pondering what to do about it - as well as reality checking against the rest of you. I'm not sure if I qualify as "burnt out" yet.

I applaud ISM's post though becasue I think he rather nicely expresses a solution to my funk in creating our own twists and treats. Looking back to the 50th, I have to say that the most fun was the fun we created ourselves. The challenge of course is finding the new. Mouse Adventure, for as many years as it's been going on has had a pretty good run on keeping things fresh - I'd like to think we can do the same.

But I also do like to have some focus beyond the mouse. Recent trips to Tokyo and Paris have been a blast, and while there was a Disney componant those trips were so much more. Likewise, my recent trips have made me look at Los Angeleles and Southern Californmia in a different way - there is soooo much to do and see here, and I think I've barely scratched the surface. I've been taking the train into work and been fantasizing about exploring some of the stops along the way (well, on the red line anyway ;) ). There's a lot of swank in this town and I hope you'll all join me in uncovering (and indulging in) it.

Count me in! I feel I've been "fallow" for a few years now, and only Star Wars (don't hit me) got me out of my little hut of lizzie-by-herself. Okay, I'll admit that the new series left us all wanting, but the cool thing is that I met new people, and re-met old friends. I re-discovered my inner Goth. I went back to a certain land that had towered over my youth with my own son, and found wonder afresh, through his eyes. Go, Buzz!

And since I'm still new to my hometown of L.A., I look forward to exploring it with LoT-ers!

I hope some of you will be able to drag yourselves to the park in January. :(

Wouldn't miss it for the world!

Oh good! Because not only have we not seen any of the new decorations or the fireworks, but we've never sunk a single attraction boat! Ever! (And maybe the Monsters, Inc. attraction will be open and maybe there will be characters present and maybe Ryan will finally get to see Mike Wazowski!)
