I don't see how it could the otherwise, tho. No one else is arguing about it anymore, and so the Fundie-tailored responses are the only responses.

Sad, but you're probably right. And that's really dangerous, because let's say proof of pure inate homosexuality is found, what then? Does anyone really believe that solves the issue? Here's what I see happening.

Gays: See, we WERE made this way. Nyah!

Fundies: So? We've found physilogical causes for all sorts of mental diseases, and we've found cures for them through drugs and genetic research. So hey, great, now we can fix all you messed up gays right up! As a matter of fact, we're gonna start funding stem cell research, just so we can cure you all of that nasty gay!

If we don't find a way to take control of the debate back, it will never end.

Heh. They said "toaster."

We don't have to control the debate anymore. We've gone as far as debate can go. Everyone who could possibly be convinced by rationality is already there. The only ones left to convince are the ones impossible to convince by conscious effort.

In America in 2006, the victory has already been won ... it's only the fruits of it that will be decades more in coming.

I'm not so sure that I share your optimism. I think that there are still large numbers of people who are opposed to homosexuality and yet aren't even sure why. They just know that it is what they have always been told and have yet to truly question their own reasoning.

But have we figured out the Gay Agenda yet?

(And iSm said 'fruits'....;):p )

There are plenty of reasonable people wrestling with this right now....plenty of reasonable people that were raised to hate and fear that have to work to throw off these prejudices....there are still plenty of minds to open up.

Recently my MIL underwent a change of heart and perspective, not to mention a revaluation of her religion because of their deplorable stance on homosexuality. If she can change her mind, anyone can. She gets madder than hell if she overhears anyone saying anything negative about the subject.
