What a treat it was to stay up late on Friday nights with my parents to watch him. It was a fun childhood memory for me.

Johnny - may your journey be peaceful and filled with neverending joy.

:(

I think Michael Ventre, MSNBC contributor, wrote an excellent tribute:

I too was speechless. When I came online the headline was there and I gasped out loud. I'm soooo sad. He was truly one of the great ones.

Sad-na lang.

Aww. I'm so very saddened. :(

I used to love watching The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson growing up. In fact, every once in awhile I'll still say "Did you see so-and-so on Carson last night?" forgetting that, HELLO! It's now Jay Leno. (And I'm not talkin' about Daly.) :(

I also do this with Zocalos & Casa De Fritos, but that's a whole other pathetic topic.

Mr. Carson, you will be missed. Tonight, the Angels are laughing and smiling in Heaven with your comedic presence & grace, while we mourn you here on earth.

Beyond the AllyoftheDolls words, I find some comfort in knowing that Johnny Carson is up there in heaven, jamming on guitar with Jimi Hendrix.

the loss of a National Treasure that can never be replaced.

i believe that if the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson went into reruns, that it would be the number one rated show. a true classic, that entertained millions for decades.

i share the sadness that the rest of you feel tonight.

I liked Johnny Carson a lot. I got to go to taping of one of his shows a long time. He was a great entertainer. Goodbye, Johnny.

Aww, he is. :) He plays the banjo accompanied by Jerry O. on slide whistle. Oops! I mean triangle. My man jammed on many a wicked cool instrument.

* Heartbreaking sigh* :( Johnny Carson was one of those fellas that had a swoony, million dollar, mega-watt smile. Just like Jerry O.

p.s.~ I love the "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls" reference! :snap:

Short of turning this into an I love Tref thread, I love Tref... Oh dammit, I did it.. Shucks...

Jammin in the sky with Jimi Hendrix... PRICELESS!!
