I think we're too on the stringent side. Getting a little bacteria (and rat poop) into the system every once in a while is good for you. That way when you're travelling around rural Peru you'll be able to eat from that little hole in the wall.

Ok, ok! So I had a bit of a five o'clock shadow that summer after work! I would hardly call myself "vermin".:p ;)

I'm not surprised about Paradise Pier's good marks. I pass through the kitchen every day to get to the break room and it is always in great shape. They also had done a major rehab last year to the kitchen and the dining area of PCH Grill. :snap: It looks good back there, so I have nothing but props to the folks that work back there.

Did you know that cockroaches will eat eyebrows and that people living in extreme infestation situations (particularly children) can end up with no eyebrows?

Maybe the San Jose ones hitched a ride to the Y here......
Seriously, even though I know we must have them, I have never in my entire life seen one in Spokane. The Y you probably stayed at was the downtown one, which is ancient and probably infested with rats as well.

For some reason it's always disturbed me that signs are posted to remind employees about hand washing. Something about them needing to be reminded kinda makes me wonder....

Oh I know that it's law for them to be posted. Doesn't change my reaction every time I see one of them posted. I'm sure there are some places where the emploees really do need the reminding, and that frightens me.

I'm right there with you. I can't fathom why it wouldn't be "automatic" to wash one's hands after using the toilet. Just grosssssssssssssssssss. :decap:
