I know you will all be shocked, so be warned.

I listen to Rush.

I've listened to him since 1992. His personal life aside, I don't find any significant difference to how he entertains and presents info I am interested in between today and back in 1992.

Me too.

In fact I find that most people who bitch about him have never actually bothered to listen to him. (I have no idea about any of you-this is just my experience)

Ghoulish Delight 06-30-2006 01:36 PM

I've listened to him and find him hypocritical and condescending. Of course, I think that of about 99% of talk hosts, on either side of the line (or polygon, if you prefer)

scaeagles 06-30-2006 01:36 PM

It doesn't bother me that most here don't like him anymore than it bothers anyone here that I don't care for Al Franken.

If I discounted everyone who was a hypocrite I wouldn't listen to anyone, including myself. Does making a judgement about what is wrong automatically make you a hypocrite when your own failings are exposed? Probably. Such is public life. I am only different in that no one cares about my dirty laundry.

Like I said, I think the same of every talk host I've ever heard (I left it at 99% simply because I haven't heard all of them). So I don't listen to talk radio.

Yes, we're all at least partially hypocritical. But it's the combination of condecension and hypocriticality that put talk hosts in a special class of blech to me.

scaeagles 06-30-2006 01:47 PM

I've never found him to be condescending. Perhaps because I agree with most of his politics.

That's interesting. I can't listen to talk hosts, even if I agree with their politics. I could go find truckloads of codnescending quotes from any talk show host you name. It's what they thrive on. Kinda like the interview with Jerry Falwell I heard this morning where he happily admitted that he says half the crap he says solely because it puts his name in the paper.

But I really don't care enough to read what they have to say.

scaeagles 06-30-2006 02:01 PM

I find politicians to be far more condescending than radio talk show hosts. I can hardly stand to even listen to the ones I vote for.

I don't disagree...but at least they actually have a position of power. All talk host do is talk and try to piss people off.
