I'm curious, other than making money for the coder, what can your from scratch site do for you that vBulletin would not do better and cheaper? Espically since you can enhance it with custom plug-in's if needed?

It's my bosses' site. It's a business that they're looking to develop, and I was told that they would like to be completely independent of external tech.
