I'm not so sure about that. Are my kids really better off (being raised in a good marriage, financial stability, and loving parents) than a child raised by two men who are also in a healthy relationship, have financial stability, and are loving parents? I'm not at all convinced. A gay couple may have to make a bit of extra effort to include members of the opposite sex in the child's life, so that they have role models of both sexes, but beyond that I'm not sure where the disadvantage lies. |

Babies should be conceived and born in creches and then doled out to people on a lottery system after an extensive screening process.
Since people can't be trusted to objectively decide whether they would make good parents it is a choice that can not be left in the hands of individuals. Won't you think of the children! The one common element in all cases of child abuse by adults is that the children were allowed to live within physical reach of adults. They say you can't choose your family, and that is unfair. So I amend my previous statement to say that children should be raised by automatons in a creche environment until they are 18 and can choose a family. It would be the best of all worlds (namely: parental neglect and incestuous molestation would cease and I wouldn't have to see kids. Win-win). Plus, if Mary Cheney wants a baby she shouldn't have chosen to be a lesbian. Talk about having your hairy fish taco and eating it too. Blah blah blah. |
My gripe with this "story" is the way a Political Issue can be made out of a personal issue. Reproductive decisions should not be the purview of any government (other than China) and branding gay people as dangerous or sub-human is reprehensible. Whatever happened to "Live and Let Live"? Or "Liberty and Justice for All"? Who is responsible for all this nosiness and self-righteousness? Republicans, of course. ;)
Nowadays it seems like the conservative motto is "You will be Assimilated". |
