Seriously, if you hate your appearance enough that you need to modify it in good photos of yourself, you have problems.

What he said. NA showed me her camera's abilities and it's so easy, even the photoshopper in me was impressed. Many people do not have photoshop, or the knowledge to pull off effects like that, and the camera does it all for you with instant results.

I guess, but it wouldn't require photoshop. I guess my biggest issue is that (I'm assuming) the original photo is lost (so you can't have both the funny picture and the good picture) and the method for evaluating decency of the result is inherently crappy (being squished down to a one-inch screen covers a lot of sins).

Regardless of ease of use, at some point the photo is going to be offloaded for further distribution and viewed then. Just seems better to me to have those features built into the image viewer than the image taker.

But then I'm not much of a casual photographer (and hardly ever take pictures of people, so the slimming is particularly useless to me unless I want to minimize a tree or something) so I'm sure my perspective is once again warped.

It'a all about instant gratification - and ease. The various setings on my camera make it easy to just play at the moment and to see the results right away. (The screen on my camera is pretty large considering the size of the thing.) This also gets me using more settings on my camera and learning more about it as I play.

To use the photoshop method requires:

1. Going home (1/2 hour)
2. Downloading photos (10 minutes)
3. Choosing one (a milion years)
4. Opening photoshop (3 minutes)
5. spending the time in photoshop required to created desired effect (eons for me)

I'd never do it - or at least never do it regularly and certainly not with more than one picture. My attention span is not that great.

Plus, I enjoy being out capturing the moment quite a bit more than I enjoy sitting at my computer.

LOL Uh, yeah....I realized you can do this on my photo program....

Hey if I can clear up the kids zits why can't I ease up some wrinkles? It's not like I am doing it to all of the pictures....maybe just one or two...:D

I'm going to take this in another direction. I don't think anyone is going to see this camera feature and think, "Wheee! Now I don't even want to lose weight!" But it does send the message that you aren't even worth looking at in photos unless you are thin. Which is a worthwhile message for any kind of media to send, as they make a LOT of money off of it.

Hate yourself more America! We're raking in the dough! (No pun intended.)

Did anyone else notice that you can also make people fatter with this camera?
