I want to go to this place on Brookhurst and Hamilton(?) in Huntington that has a beautiful mural on the ceiling of the bar. I wonder if it still exists. The rumor in HS was that they served Monkey meat, but I thin that was just a racist rumor.

Or, how about Mandarin Gourmet in CM?

Mmm... Yen Ching in Orange. Mmmmm.

I had one fortune that sticks out in my mind...

"You will do many foolish things but you will do them with enthusiasm. "

Plus it even works with your "in bed" addendum.

Ps. Did you know the fortune cookie started in California?

I did, and have actually been to the Golden Gate Park Tea Garden and bought a big bag of fortune cookies for that very reason...in bed.

Well, we are lovers of fortune cookies. When any of us pick up Chinese, we also pick up enough for everyone. I keep them in the bag, shake them up, and let everyone pick their own. We then read them out loud. Some are funny and fit perfect and others seem like lessons that person needs.

Sitting here at my desk I found my older sons last one
"You will be rewarded for being a good listener".

Mine, well, mine gives much more to the imagination:

"A thrilling time is in your immediate future". :D

I think I would keep a cookie around and keep sticking that one in it. :snap:

Unfortunately, fortunes seem to have stopped being fortunes of late. 99% of fortune cookies I get would be more accurately described as "comliment cookies". They no longer predict your future and bring good tidings, but rather pat you condescendingly on the head and send you scampering away like a good little boy. "You are a good friend and companion." "People look to you for advice." Feh. I want vague self-fulfilling prophecies, damnit!.

I have noticed that too, now that you mention it.

But, when a ten year old gets one of those pats on the head it is good.

It is boring for the older ones, though.

But, my aforementioned one was exciting as I opened it in the early part of the day and it gave me much to anticipate.

Heehee! "Ol' Joe".

A swanky chinese restaurant meet would be awesome. I'm down. There are a few passless among us, too.

I just read that as "assless Joe", and thought, "Oh no! What have the boys down in WeHo been doing to dear Joe?!"

Then I reread it.

Ay dios mio!
