Went to the park this afternoon, stopped with a friend to watch people previewing the subs, and, after a friendly conversation with a CM, were escorted onto the attraction! Our ride was after dark, so I'll second everything Kevy said and add that the night time lighting in the lagoon is spectacular. At one point I turned to my friend and said, "I may burst into tears at any moment," the coral reef is that beautiful.
The dialogue is back and forth between a male skipper and a female navigator, some of the dialogue echoes the original narration. Of course now, when they say that with our sonar hydrophones we can hear the fish talk, we actually hear them talk. To each other. In English! This does lead to the odd situation of an on-board script that comments on some of what we're seeing, but doesn't interact with the script for the animated characters. I think this could be tightened up. As with any dress rehearsal, some elements of the show weren't in their final form - no waterfalls for our trip, one scene was not lit, and a very interesting crab with no top shell - RoboCrab! Still, what an unexpected treat, I made sure to give a guest compliment to the CM at City Hall. The Commodore gives Disney Pixar Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage two toots! He gives the ungainly title of the attraction only 1/2 a toot. |
OOOOOH! Thanks so much for the info! I'm going on June 18-19 and cannot wait!!:snap:

I was lucky enough to go last night (twice!) thanks to a CM friend with an extra ticket. Also ran into Gn2Dlnd on PLaTSI and later outside after Park closing!
STOP READING HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS! My only qualm with the ride has to be with the video elements. Call me a purist or Old Skool but I like real live 3D animatronics. The sets were astounding and there were many "real" characters but the video elements were a little too reminiscent of the little show scenes in the Autopia line or the screens at the Mission Tortilla Factory. Only on a much bigger scale! The erupting volcano effect with several characters and lava and bubbles was incredibly impressive. I feel like a heel mentioning anything negative about this great attraction, considering I didn't have to wait even 15 minutes to get on either time. But this is just a little niggling feeling I had to voice to all y'all because I am a nit-picky little bastard. All-in-all: GREAT SHOW! |

Kev, thanks for the awesome description of this ride (I will not be riding till next year). I cannot wait to see pictures and video!!!!

As mentioned in my OP, I was unable to take pictures of the ride itself. However, I did snap a couple of photos outside. Sorry for the sideways photos - my Photoshop is FUBAR.

I'm not sure why they are spending money on advertising when they know that they will not be able to put through 1/4 of the people wanting to go on the ride each day. Kinda lame if you ask me. Let the local fans and APs get it out of their systems first, then start the ads....
