If you spell out the word "socks" in English, you're saying "it is what it is" in Spanish (or so I'm told).

"Eso, sí que es!" = "That one, yeah that's it!"

I have heard but can not confirm that buffalo girls go round the outside.

Is you're source of that knowledge the same as mine? Namely a very frequently played radio commercial back in the mid-90s that said something like:

"Learnign Spanish is easy. Spell socks. S-O-C-K-S. See, isn't it easy!"

That's not even close to the exact wording but that was the spirit of what they said. I imagined them teaching the whole language by memorizing what English word to spell in key situations.
