Every short cut has its problems... even the magnet wand in CS3 has its problems. I tend to use polygon lasso and go around myself, then again I'm using CS3 at school, and CS2 educational edition at home.

Why, it is in the toolbar, usually located on the left side of the screen (unless you have moved it from the default location).

I don't know why everyone is making a fuss about it.
