Well, I read the comments ... so I have to concur the original owner did a good thing ... but since the theft was discovered when the current owner tried to sell the car, it kinda detracts the total sweetness from her getting the car after all ... since she's likely not going to keep it.

My mother's boyfriend (they've been together over 30 years) has a 1956 Corvette convertible (with a removable hardtop). It was in his garage, untouched, for about 25 years. About 2 years ago, he started restoring it. He has almost all original parts, especially the ones that matter (with serial numbers). He is the only owner.

Me wants (but will never get).

My best friends Dad had that exact car. He'd owned it in college and sold it one day, her mom was horrified and said it was the only reason she'd married him in the first place ;)

As an anniversary present one year he bought it back for her. Fast forward a few years and her younger brother got the car and totalled it in less than a month.

I'm not sure he will sell it. Says he wants to be buried in it.

He totalled an original 56 Vette? Remind me to kill him next time I see him.

better idea. promise you'll have him cremated and take him for rides on weekends
