I'm gonna wait a while.

I've been using it since Tuesday and have not had any problems. I had to re-install the Flash plug-in, but whoop-dee-doo. Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and EarthLink web mail are all working just fine for me. The spell checker seems to be handling my contractions just fine.

Firefox 3 (beta) came pre-installed on Ubuntu 8.04 that I've been trying out. Since, at the time, none of my favorite add-ons worked with it I immediately didn't like it. So I downgraded that machine to Firefox 2. And now that I've been hearing about several problems with Firefox 3 I'm going to continue using 2 until all the bugs get worked out.

(And, just yesterday, I downgraded the same machine from Ubuntu 8.04 to 7.10 because I'm not entirely sure I even like some of the changes in 8.04. But that's the subject of another thread.)

For those of you having issues with gmail, have you tried installing this plug-in?

Also, certain add-ons have been found to slow down FF3 (Fasterfox and
Firebug are two that come to mind) so consider uninstalling them. Try starting the browser in safe mode to see if it runs any faster. If so, then it's definitely an add-on that's causing the speed problem.

After a few days of having to switch to the old version every time I went there, gmail seems to have acclimated and is now working fine. Interesting. So, no complaints anymore :)

So far I'm not liking the new history handling. It seems to use completely arbitrary methods to decide which pages in a site will get listed first and is different from before.

I'm sure I'll get used to it. Otherwise, I'm not a power user (I don't even have any add-ons that I use regularly) and haven't noticed any differences
worth commenting on.

If you're using Firefox 3 type "about: robots" in the location field for an easter egg.

Except without the space. Also, make sure to click the "Try Again" button.

BTW: for those who aren't familiar, the "location field" is where you type in a URL (web address).

So I caved and just installed Firefox 3 on my computer at work. Still not happy that a couple of my favorite addons don't work. Had to pick a new theme. My del.icio.us extension wasn't working but it suggested I install a different one that I do like much more.

It opens faster. That's a plus. But since I open it only once each day (and leave it open all day in the background) that isn't a huge thing. Haven't played around with it enough to say much more though.

On a related note, I installed SP1 for Vista last night. So far, so good.
