The Mayan theater was loaded with people of all sorts in all manner of attire. Formal tuxedos, ball gowns, jumpsuits with EL wire lighting, Kilts and tophats dancing along to tunes spun by DJ Wolfie (he spun with Prince and Roger Waters at Coachella). The energy was positively stunning - hugs between strangers and good friends alike were all around. There were big screens all over, and an art gallery setup in the middle level.
A video montage played clips of Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy, before the video of Obama's oath of office and speech.
The crowd just went wild, and the whole place shook.

Visual Symphony premiered a new track, an incredible salute to America that visually reminded me of something that would be in a Disney park, but with an insane drum n bass soundtrack- that used the roar of a space shuttle launch as a key note- it was so loud you could taste the sound.

Tiny break, and the Mutaytor took the stage - and although the venue didn't allow for their fire routines - they burned the place down!!

The whole set was their normal songs, set to a backdrop of celebrating America- Here's one of the videos that played on the big screens during their set.

The highlight for me, was when they came out and did a routine with US flags, waving them proudly, and the crowd went insane. The performers put the flags out into the crowd, and the sight of people reaching out to wave the flag gave me goosebumps; I admit I started to cry when I was able to grab the pole for a moment and wave proudly.

I think I was a bit worn out by the time Crystal Method started their set- if I hadn't been up since 5 am, I think I would have spent more time on the dancefloor during their set. It was a spectacular evening, and one I don't think I'll forget anytime soon.

Sounds incredible! Always wanted to see the inside of the Mayan and I love any kind of diverse multi-talent live performances (love Cirque!). I can imagine how much more alive it must've been in that environment. btw...was Oingo Boingo there?

John Avila, bassist for Oingo Boingo, is the bassist for Mutaytor now :)
