Happy New Year GMT! I just carried on a tradition since the year I got a shortwave radio for Christmas (1997). The shortwave may be broken and gone but I have carried on thanks to the Internet. I never fail to listen to Big Ben chime in the new year from London on the BBC He was in good tone this year!

They had many fireworks being shot horizontally from the bridge this year - which made sure they exploded in front of the bridge.

We're having a salmon and dungeness crab dinner, and the drink de la nuit is hot buttered rum, with homemade batter. I'll diet tomorrow.
