Natasha Richardson has been taken off life support, according to NYC legendary columnist, Liz Smith.

Smith has extremely close ties to the whole Broadway scene and is certainly in a position to know. Smith says as of 1:30 PM ET today, Natasha was taken off life support.

Still not quite authoritative enough for me, but very discouraging. :(

So very sad. I just saw on the yahoo homepage that she has passed away.

I would hope that it is in error, but, either way, my prayers are with her family at this time. What a shock and tragedy.

Sounds definitive. :(

My sympathies go to her husband and sons and all who loved her.

How very sad for her family. She will be missed by many, what a tragedy.

*sigh* This sucks.

Well, it won't hurt to repeat my earlier recommendation of her version of Cabaret. It belongs in every showtune collection.

Goodbye to another really cool person.

Ditto everything you said. It really does suck. She really was lovely.

A few years ago I read of efforts to push for a DVD release of the previously mentioned A Month in the Country, spearheaded by fans of Kenneth Branagh and Colin Firth. Tragic circumstance, but perhaps now that will happen.

Natasha Richardson as Mrs. Keach in A Month in the Country

Sad news indeed. :(

Since this is The "I Love Natasha Richardson" Thread, I loved her performance in the 1994 British comedy Widows' Peak, as a woman with a mysterious past who causes a stir when she arrives in a quaint, conservative countryside town. Natasha Richardson was brilliant in her role, as was her co-stars Mia Farrow and Joan Plowright.

You can see the movie trailer to Widows' Peak HERE
