GO DUCKS GO! I'm meeting some friends to watch the game.

And Go Wings GO (cause I want to beat them in the 2nd round).

There's no 2nd round for you.

In your DREAMS you bandwagoner!

Yea! It looks like the caps get a new goalie for Saturday. We have a yound stud goalie that's been stuck in the minors but since we can expand the roster for the playoffs.....

Be afraid. Be very afraid. If you're the Rangers that is.

Be nice, the Sharks are my "local" team. I grew up following the Flyers but when Northern California got a hockey team, well......

What? The Oakland/California Golden Seals weren't good enough for you?

SacTown Chronic 04-16-2009 07:01 PM

I only root for Northern California hockey teams endorsed by Ralph Barbieri. Also, I've never heard of the Golden Seals. They sound like a lovely group of lads.

So they just mentioned on the Comcast telecast that this series is the first playoff meeting of California teams since the Golden Seals lost to the LA Kings in 7 games in 1969. So naturally I turned to Google to learn more of this team I've known about for 2 hours. It seems Charlie O Finley bought the team in 1970 (Oh how awesome Oakland sports in the early '70s must have been!). In 1976 they were sold off and moved to Ohio and became the Cleveland Barons, which were later folded into the Minnesota North Stars. They are now the Dallas Stars.

Oh, those Golden Seals.
