I used to go to WonderCon as a "pro" with my bookseller friend. My admission last year was entirely an act of kindness. In the future, I'll certainly work the pro angle.

Hayao Miyazaki will be at the con to promote the US version of PONYO

cirquelover 06-29-2009 10:52 PM

I can't wait for Ponyo. Hopefully this time it will be playing somewhere in Oregon. Last time we were lucky enough to be in San Diego, so we were able to catch it there. Zach was the only kid in the theater but he held his own discussing Miyazaki with a lady in line, I was proud!

I wasn't too worried about missing it this year, until I heard that they'll be airing the entire new "V" pilot on Saturday. Now, I'm pretty disappointed that we won't be there. In fact, I'm very disappointed.

DP, didn't I just see elsewhere you're actually going?

I lucked out and my studio client gave me a vendor pass since I'm headed down to their evening party tomorrow. We're headed to SD tonight!

I've never been before. Any advice? (And a stupid question - as a vendor, do I need to stand in line or is there a vendor entrance?)

Yep! It was fairly last minute, but thanks to an awesome connection, we now have passes for Saturday. :)

Wear VERY comfortable shoes, and be prepared for a ton of walking and standing. Be prepared to sit on the floor to eat lunch. Yes, it's that crowded.

What DP said and I would venture to say avoid eating at the con alltogether. Eat before, bring snacks and water, then eat a nice dinner. I've been going since 93 and have yet to be invited to a cool party!! How fun! ;)

Heather and I will be driving down early Saturday morning for a walk-through of the exhibit hall before heading home. I'll probably be solo on Sunday. Looking forward to it!

Very cool Google page today, any coincidence?

LSPoorEeyorick 07-23-2009 09:19 AM

No coincidence - if you roll over the special google logos, they'll tell you exactly what they're for. This one says Comic-Con 2009.

Looks like most people will be arrive after we're gone, alas. I'm just working remotely today and schmoozing (ack!) tonight, and doing a walk-through for part of the day tomorrow. Just a taste. : )
