I couldn't watch the whole 2 1/2 hr video. But what I saw sounds interesting.

I couldn't make it through the whole thing either, but I'm very intrigued. I'm not sure if it will replace everything, but it should.

Yes, it's like vBulletin in some ways. It's vBulletin-To-Go. Every email can act like a message board, a wiki, an i.m., and if importing/exporting things from and to the wave, and the wave itself to and from anywhere turns out to be as easy as they intend ... then, say it with me now, this will be the Wave of the Future!

and, omg, keith .... you posted about this before anyone else did!

I read that Google is putting all its might behind this one, and that this is their attempt to truly take over, as it would involve everything we do on our computers, all the time.

Kinda freaky.

According to this, there is an iPhone AND Android version.

I guess it smacks of monopolization, but it just seems Spockian logical to combine the various modes of internet communication into one form that can be used for any of them.

Could this spell the end of .... the LoT?!?

I searched the LoT for "Google Wave" before posting ;) Usually the things I post don't really have a title and whatever I search for has already been posted, but as something else!

No, but we could add a wave to a thread supposedly!

vBulletin isn't happening in real-time though; it really isn't much like Wave at all... Everything on Wave appears as it is happening without any page refreshes... The wiki aspects of it make it great for creating a document quickly and collaboratively. Multiple people can edit at the same time and they will all see each others edits happening as they happen. When someone is typing you can see what they are typing (this can be disabled by a simple checkbox next to the input area), and in cases where you are IMing it can speed up the conversation because you don't have to wait to see their whole thought before you can start replying. Also, using add-ons you can enable things like real-time context spell checking ("Icland is an icland" gets corrected to "Iceland is and island", "I like been soup" gets corrected to "I like bean soup"), real-time inline translation (if you speak a different language it shows your language below what is being typed), and tons of other crazy cutting edge stuff. You can drag and drop photos right into the Wave from your desktop... No upload form. No direct connection to your buddy. The best part is if you jump into a convo late or a bunch of stuff has happened since your last view of it, you can use playback to walk through the convo and see it unfold, addition by addition and edit by edit. It's really quite amazing...

I'm very interested to see how this plays out. Google has developed some really great interactive programs thus far.
