Chez Cone/Meinke would make a fine addition

Hmm, there are other things in LA in there, they just don't come up on a search for Los Angeles. Wonder what that's about.

Could it be that they are listed in listed in other cities (Silver Lake, Hollywood, etc.) that don't show up in a "Los Angeles" search? I wanted to test that last night but didn't have the time.

I have hope that the site will evolve and improve.

Actually, ironically, the one thing that does show up is Watts Towers and it's listed with an address in Watts, not Los Angeles.

A search for "Los Angeles" turns up that as well as the other item that's in Los Angeles that is listed (The Museum of Jurassic Technology), but a search for "Los Angeles, CA" or "Los Angeles, California" only brings up the towers.

If you look at the map, everything and then some, comes up.

I was surprised with Bakersfield's entries. I never knew that big indian thingy at Ethel's was made out of mufflers.

Using the map method, I found (for the Greater Metropolitan Los Angeles area):
  • Grandma Prisbrey's Bottle Village, Santa Susana, California - An eccentric folk art landmark constructed out of trash
  • Necromance, Los Angeles, California - Medical and Zoological Curiosities for Sale (for some reason though, it won't let me access the Necromance page. However, their web site is here.)
  • The Museum of Jurassic Technology, Los Angeles, California - A modern day curiosity cabinet it is full of the wondrous and questionable
  • Watts Towers, Watts, California - A famous piece of self-built architecture, the towers grow out of L.A. like a natural phenomenon.
  • The Southern California Medical Museum, Riverside, California - A small medical museum with a recreated doctors office.
  • The ARTery @ The LAB, California, US (Actually Costa Mesa, CA) - A unique art space in Southern California's Antimall. (Access denied to this location as well. Their web site.)

Well, I happen to know that the ARTery is still awaiting approval from site admins for inclusion, as I submitted it myself yesterday. I'd bet Necromance is in the same state. So it seems the map function is the left hand not communicating with the right hand of the rest of the site.

And I can't figure out how to get the ARTery to be filed under the correct sub-category of "Orange County" or "Costa Mesa". I put Costa Mesa in the location field as well as the city for the address, but it showed up under just "California" anyway. Definitely some wrinkles that need ironing.
