I almost liked Betsy (the police officer), with her excellent read on Russel, until all she could muster was "woman's intuition" as to why she didn't trust him. Lame.

Agreed. I was hoping that she was convincing tribe members off camera that he was slime, so that we could have a nice surprise at the end. No such luck.

I'm all for the occasional villain, but the quicker Russell goes, the quicker I will be able to enjoy this season. Riles me up too much.

No kidding! But it's early - and he could railroad her just the same. There's being "right" and there's being a "target". Better to bid her time a bit and see how things play out. She's probably just happy she wasn't the first to go.

How do despots come to power? I think we might get a microcosm view this season. Offers of protection to followers (ie the "dumb blond alliance"), swift retribution to enemies, Russell is starting off as quite the strongman.

Every individual on the tribe now knows that Marisa went home solely because she went against Russell. That will weigh into their future decisions and desires for self preservation.

I think I might go reread "Lord of the Flies"

Ugh, if he's still around after 3 shows I don't think I can continue to watch. Are the people around him really that stupid? I'll give them one show's worth, but after what he said at tribal, there is no way anyone with half a brain would be able to trust him. He is a freaking bull at challenges but some things are not worth the price.

I was shocked when people found their canteens empty and didn't try to figure out who drank (er, got rid of) their water. I'd be all over that sh.t. Here we are trying to survive and someone drank all the f'n water?? Who the FVCK drank my FVCKING water???

That's hard to say for sure. Obviously what we are being shown has been selectively edited down to tell the story the producers want us to see at this point. There could easily been a massive inquiry among the tribe. All we know for sure that that Russell did not get caught dumping out all the water.

Also I think there was a somewhat matter of fact comment about "going to refill the canteens" so access to fresh water might not be a big deal at this time around.

They're probably saving that for the clip show.

I hope Russell gets caught doing one of his antics, and then the tribe makes his life hell for 3 whole days until they can vote him out.

I'd burn the guy's entire bottom attire, not give him any food, and keep emptying his canteen.

I'd want him to the point that he's begging to be sent home and that those 3 days go by quickly.
