This SNL sketch is moderately funny, but I'm posting it because it features an incredibly adorable baby pug. The counter shows how much time is left - take it to 1:50 to see the cuteness.

Walk The Dinosaur - Original Version

Super Internet Version :D

I love this song!

LSPoorEeyorick 04-08-2008 08:16 AM

So my screenplay took a really cool turn recently - I came up with the concept of doing interstitial animated bedtime stories told as by the grandfather and the mother to the little girl. One of which came to me out of the blue yesterday - about a hippo who dreams of being a star in a Busby Berkeley water musical. I am now ever more urgent to finish this thing, so someday I can see an all-hippo version of something like this.

You could have been raped!.

This starts out a little odd and honestly uncomfortable as a brother lurks outside a screen door recording his sister being lectured by their mother for
meeting a guy off MySpace. Then about a minute in the brother behind the camera decides it's time for him to step in and offer his, umm, supportive comments.

Food Court Musical is great! Reminds me of my years in Beverly Center Limbo.

Cops/Star Wars parody that I just found. Has it been posted before? Very good fan film, with 2 interesting credits: the announcer is Bill Farmer, the voice of Goofy, and Tom Servo was built by my friend Max Cervantes. In jr. high and high school, Ernie, as Max was known in a previous life, was obsessed with sci-fi tv. He would make and bring to school phasers, communicators, crystals from Logan's Run to glue into the palm of your hand, he even built some communicators from Space 1999. I may still have mine in a box somewhere. I run into him every couple of years, I know that he worked as a prop and model maker for the Star Trek tv shows. His best work, as far as I'm concerned, was the make-up he did for me as Dead Sam Kinison for Halloween one year. I'll have Cherny scan the photos. Best Halloween costume. Evar.

Okay, I suggest muting this video for the first 22 seconds. I saw a commercial while watching Discovery HD. I could not believe what I was watching. I searched on YouTube and unfortunately the only version of it I could find was this one with some annoying dude who thinks he's produced some brilliant diatribe.

But try to ignore him, the actual comercial is worth watching, and he does let it play in its entirety (warning - he comes back and talks more, a lot more, after it runs, or so it seems as I stopped it the instant I head his voice again).

Trust me, the commercial is worth the pain.

Maybe I missed something. But I have had many different pairs of sunglasses that through their UV, polarizing, and color shifting have made things look clearer and more vibrant.

Or is it something else that is noteworthy?

Ghoulish Delight 07-01-2008 01:52 PM

I was most highly amused by 1) The overall style, 2) the use of the term "HD" and 3) the lady talking about how similarly styled designer glasses cost $300 or $400.

I also liked the other version of the ad I found that warned of "dangerous glare rays" that other glasses don't protect you from.

In fact, are those iSm's glasses in your avatar?

Alex 07-01-2008 03:55 PM

Ok, I thought it was the claim you were finding laughable.

The style of the commercial didn't seem all that distinctive from standard "as seen on TV stuff" so I thought you were pointing at something else.

FYI

Quote:

Google must divulge the viewing habits of every user who has ever watched any video on YouTube, a US court has ruled.
The ruling comes as part of Google's legal battle with Viacom over allegations of copyright infringement.
Digital rights group the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) called the ruling a "set-back to privacy rights".
The viewing log, which will be handed to Viacom, contains the log-in ID of users, the computer IP address (online identifier) and video clip details.
While the legal battle between the two firms is being contested in the US, it is thought the ruling will apply to YouTube users and their viewing habits everywhere.

Ghoulish Delight 07-03-2008 09:28 AM

Interesting.

I happen to know that Viacom is working on finding ways to, instead of pulling their content from sites like YouTube, find them and sell advertising space on them. This kind of data on exactly who is viewing their content could be very useful from that perspective...

Yeah, I was a little confused by what they were trying to indicate. Is gay kissing somehow even louder than bar noise, is that why we're supposed to be impressed?

DrSns: Wake up! It's late!
It's twenty minutes after eight
Everyone get up; it's time to go
Up and at 'em now
Come on; shake a leg
Have some juice and scrambled egg
On the floor and out the door
Let's get on our way.

Dot : Hey, watch out!
Yakko: What's the matter?
Dot : You almost knocked me off the ladder
Yakko: No I didn't
Dot : Yes you did; I almost fell
Yakko: Don't exaggerate
Dot : I'm not
Yakko: Yeah, right
Dot : Are you trying to pick a fight?
Yakko: Will you get out of my face?!
Dot : Well, you're always in my space
DrSns: Hey get off each other's case
Because we're trying to get along.

Wakko: I want pancakes
Or a waffle
This tastes awful
Is that all we've got?
Can't find my clothes
And I need to blow my nose
And my socks are full holes
And my shoelace has a knot.

Dot : That's my toothbrush
Yakko: No it's not
Dot : Well, it's sitting in my slot
Yakko: No it isn't; this is mine and that one's yours
Dot : Well, you're standing in my way
Yakko: Yeah, that's tough
DrSns: Alright now that's enough
Everybody get your stuff
Because we're going out the door.

DrSns: Every time we get into the car
It's so much work
It takes us twenty minutes
While you're driving me berserk
With your playing und your jumping
Und your running all about
When I finally get you inside
You always lock me out!

Dot : I'm mad, I'm mad
I'm really, really, really mad
You poked me with your elbow in my side
Yakko: No I didn't!
Dot : Yes you did
Yakko: Nuh-uh
Dot : You did
And I'm just a little kid
You're lying; don't deny it
Yakko: Oh, I'm gonna hit you
Dot : Yeah, just try it
DrSns: Will both of you be quiet
'Cause we're driving in a car!

Dot : Ow, he hit me!
Yakko: Ow, she bit me!
Dot : He said he's gonna "get me"
Yakko: No I didn't
Dot : Yes you did!
DrSns: Alright that's it; now I forbid
Either one of you to say another word!

Wakko: Are we there yet?
I'm tired.
I'm hungry.
How far?
My nose is snotty
Need to move my body
Gotta use the potty
Better stop the car.

Dot : Stop it!
Yakko: No, you stop it
DrSns: Why can't you both just drop it?
Dot : Well, he started it
Yakko: Oh, yeah, I'm really sure, uh-huh
Dot : Na-ah
Yakko: Uh-uh
Dot : It's your fault
Yakko: No it's not.
Your leg is in my spot
DrSns: Yakko you be quiet
Und that goes for you too, Dot!

DrSnS: Every time we take a trip
It's always just the same
With the fighting und the biting
Und the calling all those names
Then there's pushing und there's shoving
Und there's scratching on the neck
When we finally get to where we're going
Everyone's a wreck!

YW+D : Yak yak yak yak yak yak yak yak yak yak yak yak yak!

Dot : I'm mad, I'm mad Wakko: Are we there yet?
I'm really, really, really mad I'm tired.
You poked me with your elbow in my side I'm hungry.
Yakko: No I didn't! How far?
Dot : Yes, you did, you did My nose is snotty
And I'm just a little kid Need to move my body
DrSns: Will both of you be quiet Got to use the potty
'Cause we're driving in a car! Better stop the car.

DrSns: We're here, we're here
Doesn't anybody want to give a cheer?
Yakko: You mean this is where we're all gonna spend the day?
Dot : At the circus?!
Wakko: Hey, guys, look! They got rides!
DrSns: Now you're satisfied?
Alright, everyone inside
And let's have some fun, okay?

YW+D : Yay!!!

Dot : I'm glad, I'm glad
What a really great time we had
Did you see those lions and those tigers
Weren't they neat?
DrSns: Are you happy now?
Dot : We are; thanks a lot
I'm sorry that we fought
From now on I'll get along
Yakko: That's alright, Dot; I was wrong
DrSns: Ah that's nice, now come along
Let's all get in the car.

Dot : You can take the seat you like
You're always so gallant
Yakko: Ah, thank you, Dot, but ladies first
You take the seat you want
DrSns: Everybody's happy now
We've had a real good day
Und now it's time to go back home
So let's be on our way.

Dot : You hit me
Yakko: No I didn't
Dot : Yes you did. Stop it!
Yakko: No, you stop it
Dot : Move your leg
Yakko: No, you move your leg
Dot : You started it
Yakko: No I didn't, you did
Dot : No I didn't, you did
Yakko: So what?
Dot : You always start it!
Yakko: Don't you cross that line!
Dot : You're not the boss of me!
Yakko: This is where the line is, right here!
Dot : Oh yeah? Since when? Get out of my face! I'm the boss here!
Yakko: Dr Scratchansniff, she started it!
Honestly, they really did something right when they did Animaniacs. It was a great return to the Looney Tunes humor of old.

So I've mentioned it before, but I've got a theater-crush on In the Heights, which won the Tony award for best musical. It's a slice of life in Washington Heights, featuring really terrific lyrics and rap, and musica latina. I found their Tony performance on YouTube.

And today I found out that the lyricist/writer/star (Lin Manuel Miranda) has a YouTube page. He did a bunch of viral videos to promote the show, and I really enjoyed them, too.

Miranda at eight, lip-syncing to "Wishful Thinking"

Miranda mocking High School Musical 2
... and it'll probably only be funny to you if you've watched it.

Miranda freestyling, responding to critics who think his portrayal of the latino community is whitewashed.

I'M JUST AN INTERNATIONAL MALE CALVIN KLEIN SALE FASHION PLATE! I'VE DONE SO MANY DRUGS THAT MY COMPLEXION'S IN AN ASHEN STATE ... BUT UNDERNEATH IT ALL, I REALLY TRY TO BE "COMPASSION-ATE"! I LOVE MY GIN & TONICS, HIGH COLONICS AND OLD PIAF SONGS ... I LOVE "THE WOMEN," "ALL ABOUT EVE" AND "THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG"! Our friends in Scotland had been purchasing episodes of some NBC show via iTunes. But they stopped selling them there. So they tried to watch it on NBC's website, but they block it from the UK. Their reaction has been, "Geez, we've TRIED to pay you for it, we've TRIED to watch it with the advertisements on your website, guess we're going to have to find another method that isn't going to benefit you, NBC."

I wish I had video of my dog escaping from a kennel. She climbed one of those and got out the first time we went on vacation. From then on we always had to make a note that the keep her in one with a secure roof. She never defeated the roof like that beagle did (I love the utterly ineffectual planks of wood and the cinder block in that video), but she had a disadvantage. She only had three good paws to work with due to nerve damage from an unknown accident before we had her!

I would have loved to seen how she climbed a 12 foot fence on 3 legs.

An interesting thing I noticed was that in one of the rooms (I don't know if it was Elizabeth's or Phillip's) books about "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Fawlty Towers" were on a bookshelf. Our guide said that from time to time they'll switch out the books and add random ones just for fun.

The other tidbit I loved was that the Queen would sit and have a drink with the crew in their sitting area often.

See, to me it loses it once it becomes slick, and the song comes across as a much more laid back type of song, rather than the happy frenzy that is Dragostea Din Tei (even on re-viewing it's about the same)

Yes honey, France is a country.
No sweetheart, Europe is not a country.

I loved Jeff's zinger at the one minute mark.

I'm almost convinced it's an act it's so ridiculously ignorant...but it does require believing that girl can act.

I'm suspecting this is re-voiced & re-captioned... if not: YIKES !

Ghoulish Delight 12-12-2008 06:32 PM

Nope. I looked around and that is indeed the real deal.

Alex 12-12-2008 07:15 PM

Though I can't find any record of it outside of a novelty toy catalog. So I'm sure it was done entirely with a wink and a nod. Just like Hooters refers to owls and I can't imagine what else you might be thinking of.

This video's pretty cool. The song's so-so, but the video itself is nifty. Where normally one tries to make models look real, they took real footage and made it look like you're watching toys.

Very cool. Though I was hoping for a video version of this. Probably NSFW, btw.

Hehe, I'd forgotten about that, and I think I was the one who posted it. But I remembered guessed what it was from your post without clicking the link.
