I've never seen eggs cooked in a microwave (maybe on an infomercial, but that doesn't count). It doesn't sound like a good idea. (But then again, I don't cook anything in a microwave.) Can it really be done?

scrambled eggs -

crack eggs
beat them
toss in light seasonings (sorry WB, I disagree :p)
coat pan with some spray (or use a nonstick pan)
heat pan
turn heat down
dump in egg mix
stir almost constantly so the eggs remain broken up
eggs are done when they no longer look wet
put on plate
eat

I think I know exactly what I have done wrong now. I think I am not stirring them well enough

I do eggs two at a time. How much milk should I put into the mixture?

Also If I want cheese do I add that to the mixture before I put it in the pan or after?

Thanks everyone.

Don't add milk, that might help.

Apparently it can. you crack an egg or two into a microwave-safe bowl. Then you whisk it a little and put it into the microwave. Put it on one minute increments and stir in between until it looks done.

At least that is what my friend told me...my trial this morning was not successful.

Yeah, decent scrambled egg type products can be produced pretty reliably with a microwave. They tend to be a bit airier than I'd like, but they're fine.

And a bonus, if you're going to put it on a sandwich (which is why most breakfast sandwich places I've seen do it) is that it is of a solid piece rather than bits that will fall out of a sandwich.

One key, though, is to take the egg out of the shell before microwaving it. Skip that step and things just won't work out for you.

I can't help but laugh as I recall It's The Easter Beagle Charlie Brown! and the scenes where Peppermint Patty tries to teach Marci to boil eggs and she screws it up every time (Making egg soup, frying them, toasting them, waffling them, etc)

What are you doing, what do you not like about your results?

THIS topic alone should throw off the campers post count game.

I'll go ahead and answer your question (since you asked first).

I spray the pan and I have either cracked the eggs into the pan or cracked then in a bowl and whisked them. No matter which way I have done...I will stir them around (but I guess not enough to help) and while some of the eggs come out wet and somewhat runny while other parts of the eggs come out brown and crusty...looking almost burnt.

I don't put it on high heat...medium heat is what I use.

I don't use milk.

I would add the cheese later. Wait until they are almost done and put it on top. stir around but make sure the cheese doesn't burn.

1. I can actually cook some things. I cooked a pork chop and green peas for dinner the other night. You don't realize how much of an acomplishment that is for me.

2. Meanwhile I suck at eggs. Or maybe that should read I SUCK eggs. Whichever you prefer. I've tried in the pan or in the microwave. The scrambled eggs I am trying to make just don't come out right. It's frustrating!

3. I love fredom but I need to have some structure or I don't get things done (or as much done as I need to). I will be much better off setting a somewhat-solid schedule of tasks instead of going with the flow. I'll get more done that way.

4. I am not ready to live independently yet. I need some more training. In a related note my friend in Kentucky (Dave) who just lost his Father to Cancer has invited me up to Louisville to spend some time wih him. I think I will take the offer. It just costs me 40 bucks to hop a bus and head to Louisville. He said that hte could help teach me some more things I need to know how to do so I can live independently.

Good for you for learning what you can do! I think it's awesome that your friend will help you learn even more! :) Cooking (and a lot of life skills) really do need to be taught. It doesn't necessarily come naturally.

I always use milk when I scramble eggs; about 1/4 to 1/2 cup for 2 eggs. I've never done them in the microwave. Cheese gets added later; it doesn't need to cook, just to melt, and will stick in the pan badly if you cook it with the eggs. Grate it and put it on the eggs after you get them on your plate.
