Oh no Moonie - stay safe. Pru posted on FB a little while ago that the garden was toast but I think they're otherwise ok for now.

The night time news was showing hundreds of lightening strikes in the east, scary stuff. Stay safe.

Stay safe Moonie and Pru (and anyone else affected by the storm).

We're okay for now. The neighbor has a generator and we're chipping in for the gas so we can run our fridge (and laptops and internet) off of it. So at least our food won't spoil. The daylight basement is actually fairly cool, what with being mostly surrounded by dirt. Shortly I'm going to gird my loins and take a daylight look at the garden. No damage to our place, that I know of, but a tree branch from our yard tore open part of our neighbor's roof. Happy today that I am a mere renter.

It was indeed a storm like I've never seen before. Just continual lightning for the duration. The rain and wind were like unto that bit in the boring prelude to the backlot tour at disney studios where the guy gets water dumped all over him. It was seriously crazy. They recorded a gust at one of the airports (Dulles, I think) of 79mph.

And you know what the really fun part is? (Aside from it being near 100 degrees and having no a/c...) We get to do it all again tonight!

Oh, and I should mention that the county is under a mandatory water restriction policy because the purification plant lost power and they hadn't filled the tanks or reservoir or whatever before then.

Yikes! Be safe, bitter east coasters!

Let it be known, 65 miles, and 4 hours, is a long way to go on a bicycle (you're nuts, Chernabog).

Let it also be known, I'll a take a 5-8% grade climb over a 5-8mph breeze in my face any time. Especially if that 5-8mph breeze in my face is for 30 miles solid. THIRTY MILES

Day 1 with no power is coming to an end. Probability seems to favor us being without power for at least a few more days. It was one hell of a storm.
