The Doc says our dog Rex might have canine cushings disease. I did a quick Google on it, not good. A lot of contradictory info. Can anyone recommend a good site for reliable info on this?

Thanks.

As for good info, try this.

I have to say that I've had more dog diagnosed with Cushings and NOT have it. Diabetes is often mistake for Cushings, has Rex been tested for diabetes? I'm not sure why vets seem to jump to the Cushings diagnosis right away, but it's not uncommon.

As for treatment, it al depending on what type of Cushings it is. It is treatable and, depending on the age if Rex, it would be a good idea to try and treat him. Once the symptoms of Cushing are under control, the dog can live a very happy life. Its certainly not a horrible, grim diagnosis. The goal would be to make sure Rex is a comfortable as possible and treatment will do that.

Wow! Sooooo about 305 pages ago I experienced a couple of major losses, right after some minor ones, and I poofed. I was going to put up a joke new thread about how Second Life ate my First Life (thanks JWB) but it seemed too theatrical. Actually, what happened is SL was introduced to me at a time I needed it, and, beyond turning out to be therapeutic, it is my new Favorite Thing. I rarely go to my old fora or social networking sites because they are just so much paler compared to my 3-D networking world. FaceSpace-sites...meh: they require coddling. Twitter? No. I sent my son a text message once and got OMG U txtd me MOM. Is that the level of communication I want with my nearest and dearest? No.

I like the 3-D virtual world where I'm now a builder, script-fu mistress, animator, sim-owner AND a really good friend to people all over this planet. Second Life rocks. And a barometer of sorts is that my kid is all over me to get him on the adult grid. It is not going to happen, but I guess I've got the cool points in the bank again.

Oh but the point of this post was to say where I'd been, and why I'd been gone. But I really didn't leave you lovely people -- I just got busy in a fantastic way in a place right next door on the internet...a place of limitless possibilities where you really can create your own world. Okay, yeah, I guess I went crazy. :)

Just call me Dr Frankenstein!

(I'm glad you're enjoying it.)

I just checked it out too.

I am trying really hard to avoid checking it out more. It's omg wild, and could be highly addicting.
