Yeah... Baseball is boring. The players wear entirely too much clothing.

And the weird way that some announcers and some players are just okay with a wrong call is annoying. Last night, the announcer said, 'Oh yeah, he was out... Anyway, up next is...' I kept yelling at the TV saying, 'But the call was wrrrooong!' And, yes, I say it for non-Angels, non-Red Sox teams as well...

I am in complete agreement with you on this one, GC! I draw the lines at balls and strikes but instant replay is something that is definitely needed in win/lose situations for close calls (and for home runs close to the foul pole.

There are several. This is one of them.

See, but you can't draw the line at balls and strikes. There's no line to be drawn. Either there should be instant replay for everything or none at all.

I'd support instant replay for fair/foul home runs decisions since it is completely possible to reset or advance the game if replay overturns the call on the field. Also, most such reviews should be very quick.

But no farther and I personally wouldn't strongly advocate for even that. I'm fine with the human factors. Yes, there are well defined rules but we're already fuzzy in enforcement of several (how many 6-4-3/4-6-3 double plays never see anybody tag second; watch how quickly the back line of the batter's box disappears as the batters creep backwards out of it; and of course the strike zone)

I would rather my team lose a game on a correct call than win on a botched call. So there. :p

Have there really been that many blown home-run calls? I just don't see the need to introduce IR even for that. Partly because reviews wouldn't be quick. One of the bigger complaints about baseball is that it is already too slow of a pace - IR would just make it worse.

Besides, ANYTHING can have an effect on the game. While the reversal of a home run has a more immediate and obvious effect, just about any other call could impact the game as well.

There have been an abnormally high number of borderline home run calls (some botched, most not) this season, so IR has been a big topic of conversation among nitwits analysts.

I can't argue with that. I also can't argue the fact that I may be a Loser later this afternoon! :D
