I use the lavender for several reasons.
1- it smells strongly enough that for a while she leaves her incisions alone.
2- it helps the incisions heal
3- avoids infection.
4- the calming effect

(Dis)Comfort Suites

The airport hotels in Milwaukee have been blechy so I did some reading of reviews at expedia.com. The Comfort Suites was highly rated, clean, comfortable, etc.

Ugh, no. The room itself was fine BUT on an energy-saving timer. You stick your key card into a slot which activates the lights and a/c. That's fine - everyone wants to save energy and too many people leave the a/c and lights on when they leave the room.

Now, the whole building was hot and stuffy. I'm guessing it was 85-90 degrees inside, easily. The energy timer was on a 1 1/2 hour cycle. If you turned on the a/c, that lasted only one cycle. This meant that we were up every 90 minutes through the night reactivating the a/c.

When we complained at the desk, a woman walking by said "My room is the same!" So not a malfunction.

Hmmpf. What we like about hotels is not having to stress about the power. Leaving the a/c on all night is part of the hotel cost, to me.

Did this mean the room was less expensive? I hate to come into a hot and dark room.

Gawd I sound wasteful. But, when we use the a/c, it is really hot outside. Who wants to pay what can be paid for a room and come in to a room where they are uncomfortable and have to wait however long for it to cool off? I should say, we spend a lot of time in the rooms kicking back.

With that kind of meter on the utilities, you'd think it would be! The hotel was in line with other 2-3 star chain hotels like Radisson, Hampton Inn, Country Inn and Suites. I think it was something like $120/night.

MouseWife 07-23-2008 06:13 PM

Well, that isn't cheap! I guess time of year/location have to be considered but dang!

For that much, I expect breakfast, a workout room, and definitely a pool. A nice one, too.

My aunt stayed at a hotel in Anaheim that had the same thing. Fine to turn stuff off when you're not in the room but silly while you're in the room.

The PPH has a similar but not quite as nasty issue: the a/c system is hotel wide and they shut it off at like 3am. We learned this while having a bachelorette party up in one of the rooms. It was VERY hot. My friend complained and the room ended up comped. So was the stripper (but that's another story!)
