No, not a jerk, really. Just annoying and useless.

Exactly.

We're getting a card and going out for lunch together tomorrow. It's something, at least.

Unfortunatly, we have to include her.

Sometimes, the best course of action in life is to take the high road. Yeah, the boss is a jerk. But by NOT acknowledging the jerk's birthday, it would probably just make the situation worse. Whereas, if even the empty gesture of going out to lunch with boss and pretending to have a good time, at the very worst, the situation at the office doesn't slide down further.

And sometimes, once people feel that they might be "accepted", they occasionally lighten up. It's rare, but it does happen.

But JWB still gets to bitch about it with us of course!

I've got me a headache and feel like taking a nap. But it's too late for a nap and too early to go to bed.
Urgh.
:(

Not too early for bed - especially if you're feeling like you need to rest. You never know - might just keep you from coming down with a cold or something. (But then I get up at - or did anyway - at 4:35 every morning so going to bed about 8:30 is pretty normal for us.)

They make a 4:35 in the morning now?
:D

I took some Tylenol and am going to stay up a little while longer. But I do plan to sleep early tonight.

On a completely different note, (_!_) means a$s in internetland language. Someone just sent me an email informing me of that. Thank goodness for emails.

My headache seems to be fading...

:)

That guy in your avatar looks less like he's pruning and more like he's getting in on the action. (or is that the idea??)

(_!_) = a$s? I don't buy it. Not without somekind of crazy splanation.
