Good grief. People are idiots sometimes.

Write out: Do NOT open any files with extensions - .bin, .exe, .zip (add more). And then tape it to all the monitors in the office.

Our accountant just double clicked on a Zip file attachment in an email. "Well, it looked like it was from UPS" (the subject said it was about a UPS tracking number, but the email it was sent from is not in any way shape or form a UPS address).

So, we instantly unplugged her from the network and are running virus scans/cleans.

Oy people... when are we gonna learn???

OMG... Now my boss is going to hire a detective to hunt down the person who sent the email (femluyei@borgbjerg.com). Because he wants to find the person and sue them and send them in jail.

Good to see yuo are spending your time on worthwhile and productive tasks.

So much for your having a holiday bonus. It's now being spent on Inspector Clouseau's Search for the Great CyberTroll. ;)

Seriously, if a real-life endeavor sounds like it should be a "straight-to-video" movie, it's not that smart of an endeavor. ;)

My boss has fully admitted (and proven) that he is more than willing to cut off his nose to spite his face.

The part that is most annoying about this is that he has been unavailable too much lately and now he will have something else that will be a distraction from the business.

Well, if he's going to cut off his nose, he should wear a bib. He could permanently stain his tie...t-shirt...wife-beater...whatever he wears to work.

Tell him if this detective can find the guy to be sure to let the cyber crimes department of your local police force know. I'm sure they can use the help.

FBI actually (according to our IT guy).

It looks like Lashbear is who did it: we traced the origin IP address (123.243.171.223) to Australia. Although the domain (borgbjerg.com) is traced to Denmark.

Still hunting...

Ya, FBI is correct.

So what's he going do do? Fly around the world and kick his ass?

It can be a real life version of Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?
