Hey GC,

Tell us how you really feel. :p

Note to home chefs out there:

Do not store peeled garlic cloves in a baggy in the veggie bin with your thin-skinned fruit.

My breakfast peach tastes awful. :(

Are you talking about the veggie bin in the fridge? Garlic shouldn't be stored in the fridge at all (it'll hasten its demise), let alone with flavor absorbers.

Walking the dogs this morning - came across our Carrot again. Apparently, he's not letting himself get caught by my neighbor.

Yeah, I'm an idiot. Can ya tell I only started cooking fresh foods again just a couple months ago?

Why do I wait until it is hot in the house to start cleaning?

On another note: I made a pretty good vegetarian dinner last night. It contained, sauteed onions and garlic, about 12 heirloom tomatoes, white beans, 2 bunches of fresh basil and a jar of pitted Kalamata olives topped with a bit of shredded parm. I was surprised just how wonderful it was.

I read that as topped with a bit of shredded spam and thought hmm that's not very vegitarian.

No problem, I generally don't know either. So if possible I just do whatever my mom did when I was a kid (though that turns out not to be best frequently) or just look it up for items I don't recall ever having in the house back then.

For garlic, you want to store it somewhere relatively cool and minimizing sunlight. Also, don't keep it in a sealed bag (I keep mine in the plastic bag from the store but with the top open) so they can breath.

Don't you need to refrigerate peeled garlic though?
