Here's the ornament that I nearly impaled my leg with - in the picture, you can see discoloration and a congealed bit of blood on the ear of the beast.
It now safely lives in the Nuclear Muffin Test Kitchen, where it will guard the Atomic Cookie Blast Furnace in perpetuity.

Holy shiznit... too bad this sucker doesn't have a reputation for holding up in the wind, or I'd totally replace my broken umbrella with this. Saw the same thing in the store today, marked down to twice the price of the online one.

My boxes of DVDs and Video games have begun to arrive!! It's like Christmas!

No, it's a condo complex with a lot of people complaining but no one really in charge. If I hadn't been trying to get to an early morning meeting I would have herded the dog back to their door which was wide open but with no one in sight. Then I could innocently ask, over the barking, did you know your dog is loose?

Ugh. Sorry, lindyhop...

By the way, I was wondering something. Will there ever be a swanking where we get to see lindyhop do the lindy hop or the shim sham at the Carnation Plaza at Disneyland? I'd love that to happen.

I've been wondering that too! (And if it's the shim sham, I almost remember that one!) But I really wanna see lindyhop do the lindy hop.

I'm usually in Pasadena on Saturday nights because there's a better balance of leads and follows. But Pasadena is dark September 6 so I'll probably be at the Park.

The Shim Sham is a lot of fun. It always comes up during a band break when some people are dancing (to recorded music) but a lot are just hanging around waiting for the band to come back. Then the Shim Sham starts playing and everyone jumps up to dance the same steps and then we all go back to our separate corners again.

If you want to see lindyhop Lindy Hop if would help if you could scare up a few more leads. There's always more women...
