Currently down for "Unplanned" Maintenance. If all my contacts are erased again, I'm going to consider quitting twitter till they get their sh!t together.

I just started following Xeni Jardin. She's my boingboing.net crush.

Ha ha - our earthquake twitters bumped everything off my front page, all within 1-2 minutes.

The Earthquake made Twitter a hero. Evac'd the building everyone on their cell phones - Disaster recovery people running around trying to get ahold on things - and here I stand, cell phone in hand - refreshing and reporting my Tweets:

Looks like it was felt in Santa Monica...
Brea...
Long Beach...
Preliminary estimates 5.8
Chino Hills...
All MY loved ones are safe...

It was that awesome joy of childish one-upmansship.

What's that - oh I'm using twitter - but it's blocked by our company as a "dating" site - dating and disaster recovery

Heh

I was giddy for hours even if dissappointed that we didn't hit the 6 mark

The earthquake has finally brought me over to the darkside....my ID is swanies.

YAY for Twitter being the ONLY form of communication available post-earthquake.

Cadaverous Pallor 07-30-2008 09:39 AM

Funny, I was so single minded about getting home to check on the buns that I didn't think to twitter.

BarTopDancer 07-30-2008 09:52 AM

Twitter and text. The news had someone from VZW on last night and suggested that people become more familiar and comfortable with "alternative methods of communicating via cell phone" for future reference.
