I'm sorry, Helen. Sounds like she'll be missed by many.

Wow.

Three days without a single "Sooo" post. Damn I'll be glad when all this distracting political crud is over so we can get back to talking about nothing.

I got another new haircut. Since I haven't posted pics from the other, I'll double up when I take new pics, either tonight or tomorrow... or this weekend. Haha..

OK... I've got something for the Soooo..... thread.

H and I have been thinking about buying a house for a long long time. Over the past couple of months, we've gotten serious - got a pre-approval letter from a mortgage broker, hired a local real estate agent, started aggressively searching...

Lats week, we made our first offer on a house. Unfortunately, two other offers also went in (in this market!) and the sellers countered with the original asking price. We couldn't get involved in that kind of deal, so we walked away.

Friday evening, we saw another place. Made an offer on Saturday morning. It was countered that evening. We came back with a second offer on Saturday night. They came back again (before their open house!) on Sunday morning. Our best and final offer is now in - their deadline to respond is tonight at 5pm.

It's been a crazy week. We've missed what by all accounts was an amazing party, we've eaten way too much crappy comfort food, and we haven't slept more than a few hours a night.

This is fun.

Yes, we've definitely been spending too much time on serious threads

Congrats to the Mousepods! I hope your bid is the one that seals the deal!

It's a long and often painful process, but it sounds like you are doing it the right way. Being willing to walk away is key.

Soooo... I'm back. There were some good parts, some "eh" parts and a really sucky part, but on the whole it was a pretty nice time. I stayed mostly offline the whole weekend so it's as if I effectively jumped ahead four days in the election countdown. Glad to be back.

Good luck to the mousepods! Buying a house was amazingly stressful for us, but it was worth it in the end. It's wonderful to know that this house is ours.
