So, this is probably a lame question, but what is Hearst Castle all about?

As I understand it, Stoat is a big fan of great architecture....that's why we're heading up to the Winchester Mystery House while the LP are in the bay area. They did a couple of the tours last visit and are looking foward to doing the tours they missed last time...

No, I mean, I'm completely unfamiliar with Hearst Castle.

Here is the link to the site.

I am sure someone else will be able to explain better than I the history of the Castle.

And, I am hoping that someone can tell me the name of the Ranch that was turned into a military base...years ago it said you could stay there. I would like to know if you can still stay there.

Darn it but I lost the site..........

Oh, um, yes, the story is really magnificent about Randolph Hearst. A publishing magnet? {is that the word?} The castle, wow, you really need to google it or something, it is too much to just put in a post. He built the castle and brought all of the finest things, made it a playground for he and his friends.

Yeah. I caught myself falling into this. I asked the mom of one of Nick's good friends if she and her partner were going to get married. Luckily, I know both of them well enough that it didn't come across as any sort of judgement. She took it the way I meant it and said that they were indeed looking into it. I realized my mistake and "vowed" not to ever ask that question, or make that assumption, again.

Well, on the flip side I'd just like to say that nearly every hetero couple gets badgered about that, so I would think it would be very cool (and then get just as annoying) for same sex couples to finally be bugged about it as well. They have a choice now and I couldn't be happier.:)

Oh, and I got our portion of the deposit off in the mail today, NA. Thanks again for everything- it's nice to have something like this to look forward to!
