That software release that was preventing me from going to begin with has been pushed back. I'd probably still be hard pressed to get the time off. But Grr just the same.

Nah, it's not his fault. I'm not sure I would have been able to get 2 weeks worth of coverage either (someone would have to fly out here and that would cost the company $$ in airfare, hotel bills and food).
