Staff appreciation day? Ha!

innerSpaceman 04-22-2009 11:12 AM

I'll see that HA and raise you two "Really?" s.

This is the lamest office I've ever worked for.

Not Afraid 04-22-2009 11:13 AM

I suppose I would have to have staff to care. However, there is someone lurking in the wings waiting for training by me. Hurray!

Since there a lot of Asian gamblers at some casinos, especially in Southern California and Las Vegas, many casinos specifically hire hosts/customer service reps who can speak a particular Asian language to make sure their gambling guests' needs are met.

I do not gamble at all, but I've known a few people who have worked as casino hosts.

Alex 04-22-2009 11:19 AM

Yeah, I suspect that they mean the job is as a Casino host for Asians (specifically Chinese) not an casino host that is Asian.

Very poor wording, though.

Morrigoon 04-22-2009 11:33 AM

Daniel: I understand the reasoning, but a business should be careful how they word it, because I'm pretty sure it's not okay to give the impression that only Asians have a chance at getting the job (regardless of the likelihood that anyone else would have the required language skills)

It's "Administrative Professionals Day" - first off there's nothing wrong with being a Secretary why the need to try and make it sound important? Second - I'll be shopping with giftcards later - woo hoo!!

Cadaverous Pallor 04-22-2009 12:41 PM

Heh, our Admin Asst is on vacation today (and all this week). Guess the boss gets to save some money.

Hmm. I'm chief, cook and bottlewasher around here, so I should buy myself a present. I deserve it given how often I ask myself to run domestic errands during the work day.

Or maybe just back myself into a corner when no one's around, so I can quit and sue myself.

alphabassettgrrl 04-22-2009 06:29 PM

So I spent the day staring at a computer monitor and trying to improve my papers for school. I'm not thrilled. I did get almost an hour on the bike though. That helps. And I'm almost starting to feel human again.
