I'll even tell about it. It's a brand spanking new Chevy Avalanche. Very cool. Can run on 85% ethanol, but sadly, there is not one ethanol refueling station anywhere in the Phoenix metro area. Go figure. Also has a huge old V-8 that's smart enough to run on 4 until power is needed, then the others kick in.

Of course, due to the unfortunate timing issue, my family and I might end up living in it, but that's another story.:)

Does it matter that I wanted to quit the day after I bought mine?

Why... because I'm a huge martyr type who takes things waaay too personally, and takes guilt on when it isnt mine to take. (Okay, if you know me, you're sitting there thinking omg, she admitted it!)
I think that some other people in my life should have gotten a new/er car before me, that I dont deserve it, blah blah. I wont bore you with those details. I've never had a new car, never had car payments, and never expected to have either.

Never mind that I was driving a 1987 two door Manual Nissan Sentra that wasnt passing smog, and the blue book value was under what it would cost to repair it. That my mechanic told me six months ago not to take outside the city if I wanted to arrive at my destination.

I bought a 2006 Toyota Corolla. Automatic, power windows, a/c, and cloth seats.
Do i love it? No, I love my a/c'less Nissan. But its a guilt thing as I said. my son loves the new car. He has a door, and its not as hot as the old car. And we wont have to borrow a car to go to Disneyland.

It's driving my family nuts that they talk to someone and mention my car, only to discover I havent told the people they think are my closest friends.

(the stock image, not MY car, but I made sure it was the right color and all that rot)

What I was driving. Someone elses car, but looks just like my baby, only mine is white.

Guilt is a useless emotion.

Me, too. I was raised Catholic in a Sicilian/Portugese family. I know guilt. Sadly. :D

You deserve your new car. Enjoy it. Why not? People who don't deserve sh!t get new stuff all the time. You're worth it. You need to remind yourself of that. You should be your biggest fan. If not, no one else will be. Pat yourself on the back.
:)

word for word the first thought in my head when I read it.

I know you pretty well my friend. You so very much DO deserve it.
now hush up and enjoy having A/C at least as an option on days like these.

truth. stone cold truth

avoiding it is, however, at times easier said than done.

I used to drive that exact same Nissan Sentra. At least externally. Mine was a standard, not automatic, and the a/c worked like crap.

Oh no, dont misunderstand. The nissan is a standard/manual, and has no a/c. Vinyl seats, cracked dash, no room for anyone over ten in the back seat...

I'm trying to sell it back to the state through the emissions program.

Gemini Cricket 06-28-2006 04:47 PM

Here, I'll help you out, Ponine. I'll let you give your car to me. :D No car, no guilt. :D

Ponine 06-28-2006 04:55 PM

Sounds like a fair deal.
And see... we're trying to get new chairs in our deptartment... We've done half, we still need like five more. HR said NO. So they brought the guy's chair who said no over... it looks like poo.
So what was my first instict? I emailed him and offered him my new chair.
No thought behind it, just emailed. Now I feel guilty that his chair looks so bad, and I got a new one.

Gemini Cricket 06-28-2006 04:59 PM

Maybe in the grand scheme of life, maybe he deserves a crappy chair? Maybe having a crappy chair will get him to invent a chair that is a perfect fit for anyone who sits in it? Who are you to deny the world of this discovery? :D

I know I'm being silly, but giving away your nice chair is silly too. :D
