Yes, Jackson was himself a songwriter.

I don't know which songs he wrote and didn't but I did see mention somewhere in the recent coverage that he is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame (no idea how prestigious that is).

While he didn't write everything he did, he did write a fair amount. 4 of the 12 tacks on Thriller, 9 of the 11 on Bad. He was definitely a main contributor to his own work.

He also co-wrote "We are the World" with Lionel Richie.

Yeah, that's his most prominent song writing credit. I don't love it as a song, but I get why it's respected like it is. Much like All You Need Is Love. Right songs for the right time.

Is it bad for me to wish someone else would die so the talk of MJ will stop?

Hey, we could. not. take. it. any more with the tv coverage last night.

Not Afraid 06-27-2009 05:03 PM

I'm glad I don't watch TV! It was enough to hear NPR talking to Spike Lee about MJ today.

katiesue 06-27-2009 05:12 PM

I had no TV until just now. I've at least missed the worst of it.

Or so you think. Just wait for the ****storm when it is learned that OJ was his demerol source.
