I wish I liked ice cream more if Disneyland finally has a location with both decent ice cream and a reasonably quick ability to purchase it.
But as it is, whenever I get ice cream I usually want the smallest size they have and then only half of that. I really like it but it is one of those things where volume does not improve it. Nor does hot fudge. |
I went off menu and ordered a single scoop for sundae #2. Sundae #1 was shared with 4 other people. 'Bout the right amount of ice cream.
If hot fudge isn't your thing, they have other, non-chocolatey toppings. Or you can get your no sugar added raspberry sorbet with no toppings at all! |
Generally, I want stuff in my ice cream, not on it. It may be boring, but nothing beats a really good vanilla ice cream all by itself.
Plus, seeing as I have the opportunity to eat at a Ghirardelli ice cream shop a dozen times a year up here without going out of my way, and don't because they're not even in the top dozen ice cream shops in the Bay Area, I'm not too excited by Ghirardelli in Disneyland. Though I will be excited at the thought of companions deciding they want ice cream and not ending up in a 36 hour line at Gibson Girl or the Cone Shop. (Plus is some admin would fix the spelling in the subject line I'd stop being mildly annoyed by it.) |
The 2nd and last time I ever got anything at Gibson Girls is when the place went 101 and we were walking thru right when they re-opened. We didn't even want ice cream, but simply could not resist the chance to not wait the customary 2 hours. ;)
The real question is - Will Ghiradelli be better than The Cone Shop? I love Cone Shop sundaes, and pretty much only get them when the line is short - which is plenty often enough. Are Ghiradelli sundaes better? Because I'm already a tad disappointed it's apparently a To-Go joint. Like soda pop and cocktails, service in real glass is what makes ice cream taste its best - and Ghiradelli's own To-Go location in San Francisco was pretty disappointing. Oh well, if there's less ice cream I want at the Resort, the less fat I will become! |

Not true. But then I'm not a huge fan of chocolate in general (I like it fine in its milk variety, but generally not in quantity).
And hot fudge kind of ruins ice cream. It melts it too fast and meanwhile the ice cream hardens the hot fudge and you end up with little chocolate turds in a pool of vanilla diarrhea. Or something like that. |
Stop lying!!!
La la la la I can't hear you! You lying liar who lies! |
You can't deny the rhetoric. I paint word pictures.
