Pfft. All you need for the authentic Golden Horseshoe Revue dining experience is a bag of Fritos and a Pepsi.
If Parm Jim is right that this is a 10-15 minute Redux of the Golden Horseshoe rather than a full-scale revival of the shoe, I retract what I posted above. (But, with reservations required, it sounds more like the former.) |
Alas, January is insane for us, and I can't commit to any of those weekends at this time. Maybe the 19th/20th, maybe Feb 2nd. Maybe. Those are supposed to be downtime days between insane insanity so it depends on how insane we feel.

I also like the sound of Long Lost Friends week, when rarely-seen character (costumes) will grace the Park. Any way to find out when that's going to be?
I remember one of the coolest things about the big 30th Birthday was they brought out EVERY character that had ever walked Disneyland - many with costume design clearly not out of mothballs since the 60's (this happened in 1985). There were no scary Mickey heads from 1955 - but basically EVERY character in as recent a costume as there was. So many were really really old .... and awesome! |
One suspect the "no running" rule will be broken getting from rope drop to that podium.
Out of curiosity, how long was the original show? About the same as a Billy Hills show? |
Typically, the GHR ran about 25 minutes. So why bother with a 15 minute version? Why not add the 10 minutes? As Parm Jim pointed out, they could do an hour if they included a bunch of the songs that were rotated from the show during its 4-decade run. But pick a few that would add up to the typical running time, and include the opening and closing number that, I believe, were the same forever (Welcome to the Golden Horseshoe, and Pecos Bill).

Humbug. I refuse to attend.
|
You didn't want to go anyhow.
|
I'll likely go to one of the reserved evening shows, because I really want the souvenir mug (see my previous note re: "milking the nostalgia market"). The ham sandwich and fruit salad, maybe not so much. Also, looks like you have to pack your own Pepsi.
I do hope the show makes audiences as happy as the original did, and is as much a tribute to Betty, Fulton, and Wally as to the Revue itself. |
Just reserved two seats for opening night...
|
Huh? Are there online ressies only for opening nite? Because I thought the ressie system was the same as old times, i.e., Day-Of, In-Person.
